All-Star events to celebrate season’s end

Circle your calendar for Wednesday, March 21 for the Morris-Sussex Senior All-Star Classic which will be played at 7 p.m. at Hopatcong High School.

Scheduled to be there for Morris County are senior standouts Drew Jacobs of Mendham, Ethan Lubowitz of Mountain Lakes, Niko Kotoulas and Esaun Mobley of Morris Knolls, Jonathan Berntsen of Chatham, Brian Bartner and Harrison Rosemond of Morristown-Beard, Ryan Brogan of Pequannock and Matt Gilbert of Madison The Morris team is being coach by Morris Knolls’ Ken Ferrare and Pequannock’s Jeff DeBell.

Morris Knolls Niko Kotoulas (24) has a busy All-Star schedule with games on Sunday and Wednesday.

Kotoulas is the only Morris County player who is scheduled to compete in the NJSCA New Jersey All-Star High School Basketball Game. The boys game is scheduled for Noon at Rider University in Lawrenceville on Sunday, March 18.

Kotoulas played a major role in lifting the Golden Eagles to 20-plus victories. Kotoulas averaged 18 points and 12 rebounds per contest. A 1,000-point varsity scorer, he also averaged one block and three assists a contest. Kotoulas was outstanding to the very end. He had 30 points and 17 rebounds in the season ending loss to Hackensack in state tournament play. He will be playing for the North team.

The 2:30 p.m. girls game has six Morris County athletes. The North team includes Sam Lapszynski of Jefferson, Tatiana Johnson of Morristown-Beard, Katie Reese of Mountain Lakes, Sam Tabakman of Pequannock, Alexis Breheny of Pope John and Shayna Erickson of West Morris.
