Mount Olive, Morristown continue to lead MCVBB top 10

1) Mount Olive (13-2) The Marauders are on a four-game winning streak. They gained a measure of revenge from an opening day loss with a win against Sparta. They also earned wins against Montville and a winning Tottenville, (NY) team. This week they play Morris Knolls, Vernon and an opening round Morris County Tournament game against Whippany Park.

2) Morristown (11-1) Congratulation to senior guard Sean Hoehn who broke the 1,000-point milestone in a victory against Chatham. The Colonials also had a dominating performance against Roxbury. Parsippany Hills and West Morris are next on the schedule along with an opening round MCT game against preliminary round surprise team Morris Hills.

3) Jefferson (14-0) Tyler Jones’ 40-point scoring performance in a win against North Warren was historic. It broke a single game-scoring record that was set by Shaun Stokes almost exactly 17 years ago against Lenape Valley in 1997. The Falcons also earned a tough win against Hopatcong. Games against Hackettstown and Kittatinny are next. They will also have a tricky game against upset-minded Roxbury in MCT action.

4) Mendham (10-4) The Minutemen won a pair of games last week with strong performances against Delbarton and Parsippany Hills. Mendham has tough games coming up against sister school West Morris and Randolph. The Minutemen will also host Dover in MCT action.

5) Hanover Park (9-3) Victories over Butler and Parsippany made for a good week for the Hornets. They have contest with Dover and Whippany Park coming up. Their MCT matchup is a dangerous one against Randolph. The tournament’s 12th seed has a history of tournament success.

6) Chatham (9-5) The Cougars yo-yo season continues. Chatham suffered a loss to a strong Morristown squad and also gained a win against Parsippany Hills. Games against Delbarton and Randolph are in Chatham’s future. The Cougars’ have a home game against 10th-seeded Montville in their opening round Morris County Tournament game

7) Morris Catholic (12-4) The Crusaders seem to get better with every game and have steadily moved up the ranks. Solid wins against Pequannock and Parsippany in an MCT preliminary keeps their confidence level up. Games against Boonton and Kinnelon are certainly obtainable. Morris Catholic will face Morristown-Beard in upcoming MCT action.

8) Montville (9-5) The Mustangs lost to Mount Olive but earned wins against Morris Hills and Butler in the MCT prelims. They face a daunting week against Pope John and a much improved High Point team. They also travel to Chatham in opening round MCT play.

9) West Morris (8-6) It was a tough week for the Wolfpack. Losses to Roxbury and Randolph put the streaky team in another tailspin. It doesn’t get any easier with games against Morristown and Mendham upcoming. West Morris hosts Pequannock in opening round MCT action.

10) Dover (9-5) The Tigers have almost as many wins as they earned last year. They took care of business with wins over Whippany Park and Kinnelon in the MCT prelims. Upcoming games against Madison and Butler are within their capabilities. Their MCT game against Mendham will be a serious test of how much the team has improved this season.

Morristown-Beard (10-4), Randolph (8-9) and Roxbury (6-8) were also considered for the top 10.
