The Morris County basketball season officially comes to a conclusion with the Morris-Sussex Senior All-Star Classic which is being played on Thursday at 7 p.m. at Mount Olive High School.
The Mount Olive trio of Rashaan Spencer, Zach Heeman and Ryan Traub is expected to take to their home court and play together one last time. The Morris County lineup is star-studded with Morris County Player of the Year Sean Hoehn, West Morris standout Sam McClellan and Jefferson starters Bryan Langan and Tyler Jones expected to play. The roster of talented Morris County seniors scheduled to compete includes: Mike Talbert and Barry Lynch of Randolph, Nick Duff and James Mongey of Morristown, Carroll Rich of Morris Knolls, Nick Burbella of Hanover Park, Jesse Warech of Montville and Stephen Sangree of Morristown-Beard. The team is directed by Morris County Coach of the Year Bill Connolly of Morristown.
The star studded Sussex County roster features the Sparta foursome of Matt Chemis, Mitch Cohen, Kevin Foulds and Austin Unglaub and the High Point trio of Kyle Adams, Brandon Potucek and Adam Walton. The list completing the Sussex squad includes: Ryan Clarke and Pat McNamara of Hopatcong, Pat Lobban and Michael Plath of Kittatinny, Brian Atehortua of Lenape Valley, Steven Kelly and Jalil Tajiddin of Newton, Phil Thompson of Vernon and Tyler Nichols of Wallkill Valley. The Sussex team will be coached by High Point’s Jesse Strehl, Newton’s Dirk Kelly and Wallkill Valley’s Billy Connors.
The Morris team won last year’s contest 133-115. Randolph’s Ryan Harris took Morris MVP honors with a 24-point performance. Sparta’s Zach Frick scored 28 points to become the Sussex MVP.
