MO wins at buzzer, Butler earns first triumph

Chris Grillo knocked down a jump shot with 2.8 seconds left to give Mount Olive a 74-72 win over Roxbury in boys basketball action on Friday night.

Donte Wise scored 17 points, Grillo had 16 and Brandon Hood had 15 for the unbeaten Marauders (7-0). Steven Loring and Doug Alexander scored 18 points apiece for the Gaels. (8-2)

Butler 55, Morris Tech 48

Thomas LaChance scored 15 points and Danny Polons added 12 to help the Bulldogs to their first win of the season. Butler is 1-9.

Mendham 70, Hanover Park 65 

Robert Annen scored 17 points to fuel the Minutemen. Jake Stagman contributed 14 points and seven rebounds for Mendham (8-3). The Minutemen pulled ahead with an 18-9 fourth quarter performance. Brad Daugherty had 21 points and 11 rebounds for the Hornets (9-3)

Morris Hills 62, West Morris 52 

Matt Toohey’s 22 points sparked the Scarlet Knights’ effort. Chris Carabello added 11 points for Morris Hills. A 19-10 third-quarter effort made a difference for the Scarlet Knights (5-4). Conor Barron scored 24 points and Kevin Leonard added 12 for the Wolfpack.

Sparta 59, Parsippany Hills 37 

A. J. Nagandran scored 16 points for the Vikings.

Montville 52, Delbarton 45

Jacob Coleman and Jacob Kaplan scored 17 points apiece to pace the Mustangs. Montville’s 22-9 fourth-quarter effort made the difference. Steve Clapp had 12 points and Robbie Price added 11 points for the Green Wave.

Pequannock 62, Boonton 58

Ian Campbell’s 23-point performance paced the Golden Panthers. Jamie Morella added 10 points for Pequannock which rallied from a 36-29 halftime deficit. The Golden Panthers are 7-4. Ali Chaudry had 14 points and eight rebounds and Sammy Asani had 14 points and seven assists.

Chatham 68, Morristown 56

Graham Delaney scored 20 points to lift the Cougars. Colin McKenna added 17 points for Chatham (8-3). Morristown drops to 4-6.

Parsippany 45, Dover 44

Andrew Smith hit the game-winning free throw with 0.8 seconds left to lift the Red Hawks. Declan Devans scored 15 points and Ryan Orr added 12 for Parsippany in a close contest. The Red Hawks are 4-5. Dayshawn Bradshaw notched 12 points for the Tigers.

Morristown-Beard 66, Morris Catholic 56

Matt McFadden scored 19 points to pace the Crimson. Brian Monaghan had 13 points and Patrick Davis had 10 points and seven rebounds for Morristown-Beard. A 27-14 third-quarter effort provided the difference. Morristown-Beard (4-5) is on a 3-game winning streak.

Whippany Park 70, Kinnelon 50

The Wildcats jump to 6-4. Ryan Gaynor scored 22 points and Mark Basista added 17 for Whippany Park. Jaison Buchanan scored 13 points and Charle Von Schalscha added 12 for the Colts.

Mountain Lakes 56, Madison 47

The Lakers rallied from a 29-22 halftime deficit with a 22-11 third-quarter run.
