Mendham, West Morris earn last-second victories

Brian Kenez hit the game-winning 3-pointer at the buzzer to lift Mendham to a 41-39 victory over Montville in Thursday action. Kenez scored 13 points and sparked Mendham’s 13-8 fourth quarter. Robert Annen added 12 points and 10 rebounds. Erik Werheim scored 14 points and Jacob Coleman had 13 points for Montville.

The Minutemen (13-5) play the Mustangs (13-4) again on Saturday in the Morris County Tournament quarterfinals.

West Morris 43, Morris Knolls 40

The Wolfpack is 8-11. A late layup by Kevin Leonard with 10 seconds left gave West Morris a one-point lead. Sean McElwaine made it three points by hitting a pair of free throws with 1.6 seconds remaining. Conor Barron scored 15 points and Bill Froetscher added 11 for West Morris. Hunter Kaidy had 15 for Morris Knolls.

Morristown-Beard 53, Whippany Park 51

Brian Monaghan scored 23 points and Matt McFadden scored 14 including a pair of important free throws late in the contest. The Crimson improve to 13-6. Ryan Gaynor had 17 points, Stephen Tucker had 12 and Mark Basista added 10 for the Wildcats (8-9).

Morristown 62, Morris Hills 47

The Colonials rallied from a 27-25 halftime deficit. Rohan Walker scored 14 points, Kevin Hoehn had 13 and Luke Haralampoudis added 12. Morristown is 10-8 on the season. Bill Morin scored 11 for the Scarlet Knights (6-10).

Boonton 61, Madison 47

The Bombers ruined the Dodgers Senior Day with a 20-8 fourth-quarter effort. Josh Smith scored 21 points and Chris D’Avanzo added 18 points, including 11 in the fourth quarter  Boonton played without Sammy Asani who may done for the season with a knee injury. Casey Weiss scored 11 points for the Dodgers.

Hanover Park 71, Pequannock 57

The Hornets are 16-5. Matthew Pitts scored 12 points, John Crown and Matt Winschuh had 10 points apiece for Hanover Park. Bryan Peters scored 18 points and Jamie Morella had 15 for the Golden Panthers.

Chatham 62, Delbarton 44

Colin McKenna scored 16 points to pace the Cougars. Tristan LeMon and John Burkard had 12 points apiece. Chatham pulled away with an 18-9 fourth quarter.

Mountain Lakes 57, New Providence 56

The Lakers rallied from a 19-4 first-quarter deficit to stun the Pioneers. Mountain Lakes went on a 26-19 third quarter spurt and trailed 45-44 going into the final period. The Lakers are 10-8.

Morris Catholic 58, Parsippany 38

Amir Hamilton had 21 points and Amir Allen had 13 points and 16 rebounds for the Crusaders (12-8). Ryan Orr had 14 points and Declan Devens had 10 for the Red Hawks.

Roxbury 67, Parsippany Hills 20

The Gaels led 34-6 at the half. Roxbury is 14-4 on the year.

Sparta 70, Mount Olive 64

Jason Drury scored 20 points for the Marauders (11-5).
