Kaplan lifts Montville; West Morris, Jefferson triumph


Jacob Kaplan scored 24 points including his 1,000th career point in Montville’s 68-59 win over Delbarton in hoop action on Thursday.

Kaplan hit a 3-pointer in the fourth quarter to achieve his milestone. Erik Werheim added 20 points and 11 rebounds and Josh Grossman had 12 rebounds and 10 assists for the 15-5 Mustangs. Steve Clapp had 33 points and Robbie Price added 16 for the Green Wave.

West Morris 62, Morris Catholic 58

Sean McElwaine had 24 points and Conor Barron added 14 to spark the Wolfpack in a come-from-behind victory. West Morris trailed 46-37 going into the final period but posted a 25-12 fourth quarter mark. The Wolfpack improves to 11-11. Amir Allen had 16 points and 13 rebounds for the Crusaders.

Jefferson 58, Lenape Valley 32

Jay Flaherty scored 15 points and Joe Rossi and Brendan Gill scored 10 points apiece for the Falcons. Jefferson is 16-5.

Mendham 52, West Essex 47

Robert Annen and Brendan O’Donnell scored 12 points each to propel the Minutemen. Brian Kenez added 10 points. A 12-6 third-quarter performance gave Mendham momentum for the road win. The Minutemen are 16-5.

Mount Olive 79, High Point 52

A 20-5 first-quarter effort put the game in control early for the Marauders. Brandon Hood scored 11 points to pace the Marauders (13-6).

Pequannock 65, Kinnelon 38

Bryan Peters scored 24 points including six 3-pointers to pace the Golden Panthers. Derek Nelson added 16 points for Pequannock (14-7). Charlie Von Schalscha scored 11 points for the Colts.

Whippany Park 71, Butler 36

The Wildcats are 10-10 on the season. Ryan Gaynor scored 19 points and Kyle Cahil had 13 for Whippany Park which started the game on a 19-6 run. Danny Polons scored 12 points for the Bulldogs.

Randolph 63, Roxbury 62, OT

The Rams outscored the Gaels 8-7 in the extra period to earn the win. Randolph is 5-15.

Morristown-Beard 56, Parsippany 51

The Crimson led 27-23 at the half. Morristown-Beard is 15-7 on the season.

Pope John 62, Morris Hills 35

The Lions led 35-21 at the break. The Scarlet Knights are 6-12.

Dover 58, Madison 51

Dwayne Brown scored 19 points and Alex Cruz added 11 points for the Tigers. Jesse Paradiso scored 13 points and Mike Bangs added 12 for the Dodgers.
