Brian Monaghan scored his 1,000th point in Morristown-Beard’s 67-62 win over Hackettstown in the opening game of the boys basketball season for both teams on Friday.
Morristown-Beard led 37-18 a the half. Monaghan scored 15 points. He reached his milestone on an uncontested layup with 1:46 left in the first quarter. He is the eighth player in Morristown-Beard history to score 1,000th point.
Justin Rodriguez led the Crimson with 21 points.
Delbarton 64, Chatham 59, 2OT
The Green Wave earned a double overtime triumph. The Cougars led 33-24 at the half but the Green Wave rallied with an 18-6 fourth-quarter run.
Hanover Park 75, Pequannock 54
The Hornets built a 26-14 first quarter effort and pulled away in the road triumph.
Kinnelon 72, Parsippany 62
The Colts took a 22-10 first quarter advantage, were outscored by 15 points in the second and third quarters and then charged away with a 25-12 run in the fourth quarter.
Morris Catholic 42, Madison 37
The Crusaders led 22-14 and repelled a third-quarter rally.
Mendham 64, Montville 38
The Minutemen took control early and led 38-13 at the half. It was the first victory for new Mendham varsity coach Phil Manuel.
Morris Knolls 71, Mount Olive 64
The Marauders led 36-30 at the half.
Mountain Lakes 67, Whippany Park 63, OT
The Lakers prevailed with a road victory in overtime. Mountain Lakes led 49-41 after three quarters but Whippany Park rallied late to tie.
Randolph 66, Sparta 50
Andrew Fusco scored 25 points including five 3- pointers in the Rams’ triumph.
