Mo-Beard soars; West Morris wins in OT


Brian Monaghan scored 28 points to pace Morristown-Beard to an 80-71 triumph over Hanover Park in boys basketball action on Wednesday.

Ryan Russo added 24 points and Justin Rodriguez added 14 points for the Crimson which improves to 2-0. Morristown-Beard’s 22-12 second-quarter burst helped it build a 42-23 halftime advantage. Joey Jandoli had 25 points and 14 rebounds and Matt Winschuh had 21 points for the Hornets.

West Morris 55, Roxbury 53

Charles Roehrich scored five of his 14 points in overtime to help the Wolfpack to a narrow win. Aidan Healy and Dillon Olsen each had a dozen points. Will Findlay had 19 points for the Gaels. Roxbury rallied from a double digit deficit and outscored West Morris 26-12 in the fourth quarter to tie the game at 48-all and send it to overtime.

Chatham 57, Jefferson 44

Johnny Maurer had 16 points and Jack Rooney scored 15 to spark the Cougars. Chatham led 30-26 at the half and pulled away with a 19-12 fourth quarter effort.

Delbarton 56, Morris Hills 47

The Green Wave is 2-0. Miles Laniw had 14 points and seven rebounds and Matt Douglas had 11 points and grabbed seven rebounds to pace Delbarton. Philip Pydyszewski scored 16 points for the Scarlet Knights.

Montville 73, Mount Olive 54

Alex Landis notched 24 points, Joe DelloStritto had 14 points and eight rebounds and Zach Warech added 14 points and three rebounds for the Mustangs. Ronson Gay paced the Marauders with 18 points.

Morristown 52, Sparta 38

The Colonials are 2-0. Morristown took a 20-5 first-quarter lead and maintained their advantage the rest of the way.

Mountain Lakes 56, Parsippany 42

The win lifts the Lakers to 3-0. Jake Marshall had 15 points and 16 rebounds in the Mountain Lakes triumph. Tate Gillie added 12 points to the Lakers which built a 19-7 first-quarter edge.

Kinnelon 56, Pequannock 47

Bobby Lewit had 16 points and Austin Tchikatilov added 14 for the Colts. Golden Panthers’ Grant Barovskis led all scores with 21 points.

Whippany Park 63, Butler 55

The Wildcats (1-2) registered their first win. Whippany Park led 33-23 at the half.

Randolph 69, Morris Knolls 52

Ryan Maughan scored 12 points and Luke Nathan added 10 to spark the Rams. Randolph took control with a 23-9 first-quarter effort.
