Roxbury wins with buzzer beater; Kinnelon remains unbeaten

Frank Hrelja’s 3-pointer at the buzzer gave Roxbury a 60-57 triumph over Whippany Park in Holiday Tournament boys basketball action on Tuesday. Brandon Lessig had 15 points and Brian Nichols had 10 for Roxbury in the Roxbury Classic contest. Robbie Madison had 16 points for the Wildcats.

Newton 58, Jefferson 43

Steven Breeman scored 18 points for the Falcons in Roxbury Classic action.

Boonton 71, Lenape Valley 67

The Bombers rallied from a 17-12 first quarter deficit in the opening round of the Dover Holiday Tournament. The Bombers are 1-3.

Dover 72, Kittatinny 41

the Tigers captured the opener of their holiday tournament. Dover is 2-1 on the season. Jay Wilfong paced the Tigers with 12 points.

Governor Livingston 51, Morris Knolls 44

The Golden Eagles fell to 2-2. Kareem Paton scored 13 points and Nick Vittorio added 10 for Morris Knolls at the Knolls Holiday Tournament.

Columbia 65, Randolph 61

Ryan Maughan scored 14 points for the Rams in the Union City Tournament. Randolph led 36-30 at the half. Randolph is 2-2.

Morris Hills 72, High Point 53

Derrien Coley had 22 points and Andrew Behrendt added 14 points for the Scarlet Knights in the opening round of the Wallkill Valley Tournament. Morris Hills went on a 19-5 second-quarter run to take a 38-26 halftime advantage .

Kinnelon 69, Wallkill Valley 50

The Colts improved to 5-0 on the season. Kinnelon led 21-12 at the end of the first quarter and built it to double digits through most of the second half.

Hudson Catholic 84, Morristown-Beard 49

The Crimson fell to 4-1. Morristown-Beard fell behind 27-13 at the end of the first quarter at 46-23 at the half.

Mountain Lakes 56, Montville 54

Jake Schicke scored 21 points to lift the Lakers in the opening round of the Blue and Gold Tournament. Tate Gillie added 16 points including four free throws down the stretch to lift Mountain Lakes (4-1). Alex Landis had 16 points for the Mustangs (2-2).

Plainfield 48, West Morris 27

The Wolfpack fell to 2-3 during the second round of the J. P. Flynn Tournament at Delbarton.

Delbarton 60, Morris Catholic 44

Matt Douglas scored 17 points and Anthony Kearns had 10 points to lift the Green Wave in Flynn Tournament action. Delbarton built a 27-18 first-half advantage. Jesse Paradiso scored 16 points and Mark Manfredi had 12 for the Crusaders.

Bayonne 59, Mendham 56

The Minutemen drop to 2-1. Nick Pellecchia scored 16 points and Vince Falvo added 10 for Mendham in J. P. Flynn Tournament.

Westfield 50, Morristown 44

Kevin Hoehn scored 17 points and Luke Haralampoudis added 12 points for the Colonials in round-robin play at the Len Sepaniak Memorial Tournament at Ridge High School. Morristown is 2-1.

Chatham 58, Hanover Park 45

Grahan LeMon scored 16 points and Johnny Maurer scored 14 points to lift the Cougars to victory in Cougar Classic action. Matthew Winschuh scored 17 points for Hanover Park. A 16-4 fourth-quarter effort helped the Cougars pull away.
