Randolph tops Morristown; Mo-Beard, Hanover Park advance


Luke Nathan scored 20 points and grabbed 14 rebounds to spark Randolph to a 53-40 win over Morristown in the North 1, Group IV state tournament quarterfinals on Wednesday.

The Rams took control with a 16-5 third-quarter run. Randolph will face the winner of Bloomfield and Montclair in the semifinal round.

Kevin Hoehn scored 15 points and Luke Haralampoudis scored 11 for Morristown (18-9).

North Parochial B

Morristown-Beard 59, Marist 50

Raphael Castill scored 10 points in a balanced effort for the Crimson. Morristown-Beard plays Christ the King in the next round.

Queen of Peace 62, Morris Catholic 51

Jesse Paradiso netted 16 points and Chimdi Ewanike added 10 for the Crusaders. Morris Catholic finishes at 10-16.

North 1, Group II

Jefferson 38, Pascack Hills 37

The Falcons stunned the top seed with a road win. Brandon Magnotta and Steven Breeman scored 10 points each for Jefferson. The Falcons posted a 12-0 second quarter to take a 23-9 halftime lead and fought back Pascack Hills’ late rally. Jefferson plays at Westwood next.

Hawthorne 69, Kinnelon 36

A 23-10 third-quarter run by Hawthorne doomed the Colts. Austin Tchikatilov scored 16 points for Kinnelon (18-8).

Westwood 71, Pequannock 55

Jonathan Wilson scored 18 points and Austin Van Wingerden had 13 to pace the Golden Panthers (14-12).

North 2, Group II

Hanover Park 51, Newark Central 45

The Hornets rallied from a 28-16 halftime deficit to earn the victory. Michael Boeckel scored 19 points and Joey Jandoli had 14 points and 10 rebounds for Hanover Park (21-6). The Hornets play the winner of Rutherford-Mountain Lakes.

Mountain Lakes 58, Rutherford 50, OT

Tate Gillie scored 20 points to lift the top-seeded Lakers. Austin Whiteman scored 17 points and Jake Schicke chipped in with 11 points. Mountain Lakes pulled away with a 14-6 run in OT.
