The season ends for Morris County teams

The Morris County Boys Basketball season came to an end over the last two days with Hanover Park’s loss on Tuesday and defeats for Chatham and Morristown-Beard on Monday.

Newark West Side 63, Hanover Park 37

Matthew Winschuh scored 12 points and Joey Jandoli had 11 in the North 2, Group II state tournament final.

The Hornets had a strong second quarter and were only down 24-20 at halftime. Hanover Park finishes with a 22-7 record.

Monday

Barringer 56, Chatham 53, OT

A fast break layup by Jazir Clark in the last second of overtime gave Barringer its first title in 37 years.

Graham LeMon scored 23 points for the Cougars. Jack Rooney had 15 points and seven rebounds, Mac Bredahl added nine points. The Cougars came back from a 25-20 halftime deficit and led 40-35 going into the fourth quarter. Chatham, the Morris County Champions finish the season at 21-7.

North B Semifinals

St. Anthony 87, Morristown-Beard 47

Justin Rodriguez had 15 points, Zach Dees had 12 points and Brian Monaghan added 11 for the Crimson. St. Anthony of Jersey City led 29-10 at the end of the first quarter. Morristown-Beard finishes the best season in school history with a 25-5 mark.
